Camp Alumni
updated November 4, 2021
SUMMARY |
I can't remember a summer that hasn't been associated with camp in one way or another - starting with 3 years of day camp,
14 years of resident camp (camper for 7 years, then CIT, Jr. Counselor, Counselor, Support Staff, Crafts Director,
Canteen Manager, and Office Assistant), followed by several years as a camp Board Member, and more recently as a Camp Consultant.
In 1982, I worked on establishing an Alumni Program for YMCA Camp Kern in preparation for its 75th Anniversary in 1985.
Since then my experiences over the past nearly 40 years have been the subject of presentations at several local, regional
and national camp conferences, starting at an American Camp Association (ACA) National Conference in 1993 and including most
recently ACA national conferences in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Much of what was presented in those conferences is summarized
in an article published in ACA's Camping Magazine in November, 2020 (see link below).
I currently provide consulting services which include web-based software to several camps that have been actively engaged in
maintaining relationships with their alumni.
